Selfishness to Gratefulness

You know at times we can be so careless and so selfish; without even realizing that you are behaving that way. I am blessed so abundantly, words can not even describe. Every morning I wake up thanking God for the joys I have in my life. I have the most amazing family, (wonderful husband and a beautiful healthy, adorable son) and everyone else in my family is so great!! We live in this beautiful, gorgeous house that sets on 2 acres. I and my husband both have a descent car and job. And a little money put back for a rainy day. I know these things aren’t the most important but nevertheless they are blessings that we don’t deserve.

Here is the reason I had this wonderful revelation today: Earlier this month someone that works at the hospital with me (not in my department) but at Clark Regional Medical Center we are all family, regardless of departments. She is a kind, caring, loving person that was surprisingly struck with the awful disease of Cancer; lung cancer. So we have all rallied to help. We have donated vacation time, prayed, visited, and just plain cried at this discovery. That a month or so ago she was fine (or so we thought) and she can come back to work from a check-up with that kind of news. Anyway, back to my story. ~
My family always gathers around for birthdays. We always go out to eat and spend time together; some cant make it, but we all try. My cousin Renee will be having a birthday within the next few days and they are having a dinner for her tonight. I received a call with Becky (her sister) telling me it was tonight. I don’t think we are going to be able to make it because it starts when I get off work, but that’s ok. Renee was just at my house night before last so we shared a little time together then. But anyway, I got off the phone and began walking down the hall thinking in my mind, “What will I wear if we can make it?” (jeans or a little more dressy). As I turned the corner I saw the lovely lady that was struck so badly with Cancer. There she sat waiting to have some lab work done. Then, I had to mentally scold myself for being so selfish. All I was worried about was what I was going to wear and she has a lot more to worry about. So it was then that I realized just how blessed I have it. I just wanted everyone to know that I don’t take life nor any blessings for that matter for granted.

Some good~Some bad

This weekend was great. There were some episodes that weren’t so great, but for the most part it was wonderful. Friday morning about 3:00 I was struck with the stomach flu. Awful, both Kobe and I had it. So, we stayed home; trying not to spread the sickness. We just took medicine to help with the symptoms and just rested. Finally, we started feeling better. Later on that evening I went to the Chinese restaurant and picked us all up a bite to eat. After eating we just rested a while. Tanner came down because his mommy and daddy had to work Saturday and wanted to stay all night. Which was fine with us. We had the best time.
Saturday morning I got up, went to get breakfast, came back home and cleaned house. All day I had been trying to get over to get my momma and bring her home with me J Finally about 2:00 I went to go pick her up. YES, my momma is with me now!!! Me and my sister went to pick her up. Then, we drove around so she could see everyone. We all were so excited!! So glad to have her home and safe. Saturday she stayed with me, we talked, made coffee, watched a movie, and just caught up on all we missed. Her and I got up about 5:30 Sunday morning and just sat on the couch and watched television and had a cup of coffee. It was so nice. Then, later we went to my brother’s for my nieces birthday party. Everyone was there. My brother’s family and my sister’s family!! Yes, everyone, all except my hubby. He stayed at his brothers. Slowly but surely we will all be together again.
My family puts the “dis” in dysfunctional….. Believe me!! Yesterday we went to get my momma stuff from her house and my mother’s husband’s ex-wife was there, on the couch!! So we called the police and had them to let us in, so she could get her things. I suppose they will be getting a divorce soon, which is great! She doesn’t need to be with someone who treats her so badly. So, for now she is staying with me and I am loving every minute of it.

Surprise, Surprise

Yesterday after work I went to get Kobe from daycare as usual, but yesterday was a big day for Kobe. He didnt know it but we had planned to get him a bicycle. He always plays down Tanner's house and Tanner has always had something to ride. So, we just thought he would love it. And he did, big time. Tanner came down to wait with us. We were waiting on Roger. Kobe had no idea what was going on. Tanner told Kobe that he would help him with his homework. I thought it was so cute.
Then, Roger got home and just look at that face of excitement. Love it.

Great Weekend!!!!

Ok... sorry so many pictures. Kobe had so much fun at the TBall tournament. Well, actually all of the kids had a large time. I asked Tanner to go with us because Kobe loves him so much and they have so much fun together. My good friend Nikki came and her lil girl Livie. She is such a doll. Kobe played so well. Until he got hit with the ball; after that he was done with it. He got a trophy which he was excited about.... After all was done, Tanner came up to me and said, do you think I can play. I said sure Bub. I went and signed his name so that he could play too...After the tournament we went home and sat for a while waiting for Chris to get his derby car "Wild Thang" ready... So sad, but he couldnt get it running right :( So he said they werent going to the derby. Oh no, what was I going to do without Marlean at the derby with me... She is my right hand woman at the derbies. But we had already told the kids we were going so Roger, Kobe, Tanner and I loaded up and went. We were they about 20 minutes and Chris called and said he found a car to run.. So they were on their way :) He drove someone else's car and won the derby anyway.... We were all excited!!!
Sunday, we woke up and Kobe had the worst belly ache.. So I ran to Wal-Mart and got him some Immodium AD, it seemed to help. I went to see Momma around lunchtime. Then I came back home and we went to Chris and Marlean's. Marlean and I washed our cars and had a cookout. Everyone came.. It was so nice spending time with family. I am so glad that we have family that close that we love so dear.

TGIF!!

Thank goodness it is Friday... I am so glad. We have a weekend packed full of fun; as always. Tonight I am not really sure of our plans. Its been a long week, may just rest..
But then tomorrow Kobe has a TBall tournament all day. I am so excited for him because he loves it!! Soon as we leave there we have a derby in Powell County. Of course, Chris is running Wild Thang and will win :)
Sunday, it is church then to see my Momma. So the weekend packs a good size punch but I love it!!

Allergies, YUCK!!

I have had this sinus issue for days... First, for a couple of weeks I had a headache. Then, I guess I let it continue to a sinus infection. So, I got some antibiotics and still had the most awful pressure in my head. So, I made myself an appointment with an ENT (Ear, Noise and Throat) specialist. This morning was my appointment. I go in there, he checked me and it is my allergies!! So, I have to go for an allergy test. Yuck!! But hopefully it will help...
On a better note... This picture was this morning on the way to school. So sweet!!!!

Dinner and Breakfast

Yesterday was my step-moms birthday so Kobe and I met them at Burger King. Roger thought he was going to be able to go, but he was helping his best bud Matt... Anyway, Kobe and I got there a lil earlier than they did and we were sitting in the car waiting and listening to the radio. He looked over at me and said, "Mommy, you are so boring."!!! Yes, that is what he said. I said, "Do you even know what boring means?" He said, "Yes, it means I dont want to be here." I swear that boy of mine sometimes.... Getting his own lil personality and it is ROGER WHITE made over!! After Dad and Maggie got there it was ok, he had a large time. He loves them so much. After we left I ran by the store and picked up some Sudafed, hoping to clear out this pressure in my head. Its about to get the best of me. It does seem to help a lil.
This morning was Muffins for Mom at school. I take Kobe every morning, but this morning I got to walk in with him. Usually mommys would go eat with their children, but Kobe wanted to go straight to his room. He eats breakfast at home, so he really wasnt hungry. But it was nice to all the mothers with their children. It is the small things that matter to a child. (taking time out of your day to go eat with them etc)

Great Weekend and Happy Birthday to Maggs!!!

This weekend was great as usual. Anytime spent with family and friends is awesome. Me feeling awesome, not so much!! Friday, at work I begin more and more dizzy and weak. I was going to try to make it till my doctor’s appointment. But when I got home, I knew that would not be the case. I went directly home after picking Kobe up and took a hot bath and lay on the bed. As I lay there the room just begins to spin out of control. Kobe was so helpful. He lay right beside of me until Roger came home. Finally, Roger got home and he took me to the Emergency Room. There, they told me that I have a acute sinus infection. While I was there they gave me a shot of antibiotics and some nausea medication. I began to feel better soon thereafter.
So, Saturday morning at 6:00 got up and left for the race. I felt so sluggish. I felt just awful. But I just got up and straightened up on the house. (If you don’t keep right behind Kobe, in 5 mins the house is destroyed). We got ready and went to see my Momma. She was doing wonderful as always. Kobe and I stopped by Hamburg and did a lil fall shopping. Gap and Children’s Place is where I found the best deals. We stopped by Wal-Mart and I got me a few things. Then, we came home. By the time we got home I felt awful again. So, I took another hot bath and relaxed. I have this fullness feeling in the right side of my head, right above my ear. I guess it will take a while to rid my body of the infection? About 8:00 that night my great friend and sister (from another mother) called and said that they (her and her children) wanted me and Kobe to meet them at Dairy Queen for an ice cream. It was so nice outside. We had so much fun..
Sunday, Roger got home bout 6:00 in the morning. I got on up and relaxed for a while before getting ready for church. Roger said he was too tired to go, so he and Kobe stayed home. I went to church and it was a great service. Plus, it was Homecoming and they had delicious food. I went home and got Kobe and we went to the grocery. After that, I just rested.
I thought my appointment was this morning to the ENT, but it is next Monday. I hope this fullness and pressure is normal with a sinus infection. It really worries me… I just leave it to God…
Today is my step-mother, Maggs’ birthday. She is a special woman. She is very good to me and I love her. We are going to eat tonight to celebrate. I just love being surrounded by loved ones.

TGIF!!!!!

I am so glad that it is Friday. Gosh am I!! We have had a rough week. Kobe has had strep, I have had a sinus infection, and that in itself just wears you out... But hopefully we all will be back on track soon. Tonight, I plan on RESTING :) Tomorrow morning, I have plans to go see my Momma of course. Roger is going on a trip this weekend. Just so happens there is another race... Eldoria (spelling?) Raceway in Ohio (Tony Stewart's) track, World 100 and he and his brothers are going. Which is great!! His dad has been going with them to the races. And I am so glad. I want them to spend time together. While they go there, Kobe, Tanner, Marlean, and I are going to Lexington to Monkey Joes and do a lil shopping.... Cant go to Hamburg without a lil shopping. Anyway, starting to get cooler and I need to find some fall clothes for Kobe. Literally, he has grown out of all of his jeans. So, I am going to hit up Old Navy, Gap, and Children's Place, see what kind of deals I can brag about :) Later, that evening my good friend (best friend of mine) is going to come stay the night with me. I dont like staying alone and with Roger being out of town, she offered to stay... How sweet of her....Actually, she wanted to go cosmic bowling, but I told her I honestly did not think Kobe would stay the night away from me. He has only stayed away 3 nights in his whole life, so that probably wouldnt work...
Then, Sunday, just a lazy day, waiting for Daddy to come home. We love it when he is gone and comes home. Like Christmas morning....

Labor Day Weekend!!

This weekend was so great!!! Oh my gosh it was busy but so fun... Friday night we really didnt do anything at all. Just sat at home and relaxed. Saturday morning we all got up bright and early, well I got up around 6:30 and I let the boys sleep til about 8:00. After getting up we hit the road to Lexington. We went to see my Momma and she was great. Looked good, good spirits, and that just lifted me up. :) Then, we stopped by the Pioneer Festival in Winchester on the way home. It was nice, but not much there. Usually there is alot of different of things, this year just alot of the same things. But I am spoiled I guess. Living in Mt. Sterling, I am used to Court Days. Which will be here before we know it, and I CANT WAIT!! Love it!!!
Sunday, Kobe and I went to my family reunion. Roger had an aching to go to the last race of the year, so he went. Which was fine. I didnt mind. Kobe and I had a large time. It was so fun and great to see all the family. There were some that werent there, they have passed on, but we miss them everyday. But everyone was there... We left the reunion and stopped by my friends house just to visit. Her lil baby wasnt feeling well and we decided to take him the ED to see what was going on. We were there about an hour and Kobe started feeling slugish, so I had them check his fever and it was 102. So I just registered him while we were there. He went back and was checked and he had strep. I could not believe that my baby was sick. 5 years he had never even had a fever; except for teething, but I was so sad that I had let this happen. But then, I realized he is in school and things will happen.
Yesterday, we were off for Labor Day so we just sat around the house. Since Kobe didnt feel well, we didnt do much. Tuesday, I stayed home because he was unable to go to school. (has to be on antibiotics for 24 hours). We had a great day together. Kobe was laying on my chest watching television and looked up at me and said, "Will you marry me?" It was so sweet... He said,"You are my favorite in the whole wide world." So yeah it was a great weekend.
